North Korea announced tonight (Thursday) the imposition of a national closure in the country, after the country's central news agency announced the first case of verification of the corona virus.
The Korean Central News Agency reported that an outbreak of the omicron variant occurred in the capital city of Pyongyang, but it did not say how many were infected.
"This is a major emergency event," the agency said, adding that leader Kim Jong-un is in emergency talks with senior government officials to prepare the country for the outbreak.
According to the agency, Jong-un has ordered a "maximum emergency" in the country's virus control, which will be reflected, among other things, in local closures and congestion restrictions in the workplace.
It was also reported that four days ago, the first case of verified Leumicron was located.
Shortly afterwards, the government announced a two-day local closure in Pyongyang, where the virus was identified.

Although this is the first time the country in question has reported corona patients found in it, it can be estimated that the virus arrived in the country long ago - and that the closure was apparently announced due to the first major outbreak in the country, home to 25 million people who apparently did not get vaccinated against corona Due to Jong-un's refusal to vaccinate the residents, this was also reflected in the refusal to receive from the international community vaccines made by Astraznica and the Chinese company "Sinobak".
The North Korean fight against the corona plague began as early as January 2020, when the country announced the closure of its borders - which prevented the importation of important goods into the country, which led to food shortages and damage to the local economy.
Due to the situation, South Korea said it had offered humanitarian aid to its northern neighbor, an offer that Pyongyang has not yet responded to.
The world estimates that the reason North Korea first acknowledged a case of Corona infection is that the number of verified is much higher than reported.
Another assessment is that the current eruption could cause the North Korean government to suspend the country's nuclear tests in order to fight the corona.
