Energy independence
: In the debate about independence from gas from Russia under Vladimir Putin, Federal Economics Minister Robert Habeck (Greens) said that a gas boycott would be manageable for Germany in the winter.
The minister told
Wirtschaftswoche
: "If we have full storage facilities at the turn of the year, if two of the four floating LNG tankers we have rented are already connected to the grid and if we save significantly on energy, we can manage to a certain extent in the event of a demolition of Russian gas supplies come the winter."
In this context, the Federal Minister of Economics again called for cuts in consumption.
"Less consumption is the be-all and end-all when it comes to gas," said the Green Party politician.
He believes that if it is possible to save ten percent in industry and private households in the next two years, "then these are the decisive percentages in order not to get into an emergency.
Everyone should take part.
Greater efficiency is a key lever against Putin."
Recently there had been a dispute in Lower Saxony over LNG terminals: environmentalists want to prevent the construction of LNG terminals in Wilhelmshaven to protect porpoises.
