Inflation weighs on the generosity of the French

While the number of donors remained broadly stable in 2021 compared to the previous year, the average amount of donations to associations or charities was in fact limited to 274 euros, i.e. a drop of 30.6% compared to 2020, according to the third edition of the solidarity barometer established by Ipsos for the Apprentis d'Auteuil foundation, which is to be published this Thursday.

In detail, last year, 35% of donors sent at least 100 euros, a drop of 12 points compared to 2020, and only 8% gave at least 500 euros.

As for households with high incomes, more of them gave in 2021, but for an average amount, also slightly lower, of 2,191 euros.

They are 40% to have paid more than 1000 euros, against 43% in 2020 and 65% in 2019
