The Minister of the Interior, Izkia Siches, said on Radio Pudahuel that Sandoval "leaves a small son, I have been able to share the deep pain with the family.
No one expects something like this to happen to a child."
The official added that the journalist's death "speaks to us of the moment the country is going through and how necessary it is to return to a space with greater order."
Until now, the only defendant, a 41-year-old street vendor, remains in preventive detention, investigated for the alleged crimes of frustrated homicide, unjustified shooting and illegal possession of weapons.
