Martyr Abdul Hamid Al-Zahrawi Theater in Homs today hosted the seventh school theater festival, which was organized by the Department of School Theater and Art Activities in the Homs Education Directorate, with the participation of dozens of children and adolescents.

The festival included an art exhibition that included more than 150 diverse works in oil, water and wood colors, in addition to models made of oregano paper, gypsum and environment composition, and a singing performance by the school theater troupe, and folk and patriotic paintings by the Folk Arts Troupe.

In a statement to SANA, Director of Homs Education, Walid Marei, drew attention to the importance of the festival to highlight the students' talents and develop their artistic taste, noting the role of educational theater in instilling moral and cultural values ​​and principles that contribute to advancing the reality of society.

For his part, the head of the School Theater Department in the Education Directorate, Osama Issa, stated that this annual festival comes in implementation of the Ministry of Education’s plan to present the results of the training of talented students during an entire academic year and motivate them to pay attention to their talents and refine them in an optimal manner to present them on the stage, pointing out that the goal of the theater department is to achieve the general wealth of students. Educationally, artistically and cognitively, with the duality of the recipient and the performer, relying on interactive educational methods that build an innovative and creative generation.

For her part, the head of the music department in the school theater department, Safa Hadid, indicated that the department hosts 14 musical bands whose performances are constantly evaluated, and the best bands were selected to participate in this festival to show the students' artistic creativity.

For her part, the supervisor of the Department of Fine Arts in the department, Samar Aqleh, stated that the distinguished artworks of the students were selected, who presented paintings of different sizes and materials, including water, oil, acrylic and charcoal, in addition to various handicrafts made from the environment.

The Director of Homs Culture, Hassan al-Labad, stressed the importance of the talents that emerged during this festival and the need to shed light on them, indicating the importance of arts in developing the student's artistic personality and enriching his artistic and creative imagination.

The festival was attended by Hala Al-Atassi and Mofeed Masouh, head of the Education, Vanguard, Youth and Sports offices in the Homs branch of the Arab Socialist Baath Party, Archbishop George Abu Zakhem, Metropolitan of Homs and its dependencies for the Greek Orthodox, and the Secretary of the Vanguard branch in Homs, Khaled Janiyat.
