North Korea reports first corona infections

North Korea has reported its first Corona case.

More than two years after the outbreak of the corona pandemic, Pyongyang reports an infection with the virus in its own country.

Seoul – North Korea has officially confirmed cases of infection with the pathogen in the country for the first time since the outbreak of the corona pandemic.

Tests on residents in the capital Pyongyang revealed that they had contracted an omicron subvariant of the virus, state media reported.

It was initially unclear how many cases there were and where those affected became infected.

At a Politburo meeting, leader Kim Jong Un reportedly called for the "unexpected crisis" to be dealt with.

So far, the isolated and authoritarian country of the World Health Organization (WHO) had not reported a single infection with the corona virus.
