Opinion | Lee Gal Hirsch carries a souvenir Israel today

A state attorney with integrity would not approve of suing an incumbent prime minister without a simple key sentence, which the voter can understand. This bud did not bother, and the result: a deep rift in the people

Ayala Hasson's excellent film, "The Battle of His Life," which unfolds the shocking mask of abuse perpetrated by Israeli hero Gal Hirsch by the police and the State Attorney's Office, raises serious questions among many (not just on the right) about Netanyahu's files.

I have had such questions for a long time not because I am a jurist (I am not), not because I am a Likudnik on an automaton (neither) nor much before this week, when Pilber's cross-examination raised doubts about the very existence of a "facilitation meeting" between him and Netanyahu.

The reason why Netanyahu's portfolios are doubtful in my eyes is that I have been making a living from writing and composing songs for a generation.

Every skilled songwriter knows that a good song has a core of truth, which can be summed up in one sentence.

Think of all the songs you know, from the Beatles' "All you need is love" to Shalom Hanoch's "I do not know how to tell you how much I love you".

These two sentences carry with them the whole emotional charge of the song.

If you understood them, you understood what Paul and John or Shalom wanted to say.

The rest - the houses - is a procedure: evidence and proof of the clear claim as a sun, which appears in the hymn.

The principle of a constitutive idea that can be expressed in one sentence or at most in two, is true not only in art: also in high-tech, business and any complex human project, the key phrase is the compass that points to the point at which one is striving.

Without this compass, the end of the project will brag.

Wise, for example, is a successful company because its vision can be expressed in one short sentence: "Utilize the wisdom of the masses to avoid traffic jams as much as possible."

The field of criminal law is not unusual: the essence that ultimately turns a person into a convicted felon, the prosecution should be able to summarize in one clear trial.

This is, for example, the claim of the prosecution in the Holyland case: "The developers of the project paid a bribe to the mayor in exchange for building relief."

The effort to prove such a claim is complex, but the claim itself is simple.

In the 4000 case, the key statement of the State Attorney's Office reads something like this: "Minister of Communications Netanyahu gave regulatory benefits to Alovich. In return - although he did not receive money, he received fan coverage on the Walla website. Sorry - all the material extracted from Ilan Yeshua's phone proves that he responded in an unusual way to the whole world and his wife, but we did not intend to transfer all the material to the defense, it fell apart for us ... "It is possible to continue much longer, Money "makes the key phrase cumbersome.

A cumbersome key sentence is an excellent recipe for dragging Netanyahu and his family into the mud for years.

Such a drag, as evidenced by the shocking abuse at Gal Hirsch, is a common practice in the prosecution of Shai Nitzan and Liat Ben-Ari - a legitimate means of breaking the defendant on the way to a plea deal.

The problem is that in Netanyahu's case, the cohesion of the people of Israel is also damaged along the way.

Prior to the Shai Nitzan era as State Attorney, Israeli society enjoyed unprecedented unity.

By living together, the three most painful rifts in the nation came together: the left and right approached thanks to the Palestinian refusal to resolve the conflict, Easterners and Ashkenazis approached thanks to the blessed melting pot of the families involved, and secular and religious approached thanks to the traditional option of performing Kiddush on Friday and Shabbat.

Then came Shai Nitzan.

A state attorney with integrity would not approve of suing an incumbent prime minister without a simple key sentence, which the voter can understand.

This did not bother Nitzan, and the result: a deep rift in the people, between two camps, each of which is convinced that it is fighting for the future of Israeli democracy.

As Gal Hirsch did, so did Shai Nitzan's prosecutor's office with a healthy patient.
