Their cry of alarm was heard.
In mid-April, the residents of the Champ-de-Mars had decided to speak out to denounce the insecurity reigning around the Eiffel Tower.
Trafficking, pick-pocketing, bonneteau… The list of their grievances was long.
They therefore demanded a reaction from the public services.
And if all were not necessarily in agreement on the arrangements requested, such as the closure of the Champ-de-Mars at night, they were however unanimous in the idea of a stronger police presence.
The police headquarters seems to have heard them.
The police, already mobilized before this call for help, have therefore reinforced their presence.
In the fifteen days since April 26, 7 operations have been carried out, of varying magnitude.
As a result, 34 people were taken into custody.
Among them, 4 were referred, 4 were summoned before the juvenile judge, and 15 are now banned from appearing in the area.
In addition, 31 obligations to leave French territory (OQTF) were pronounced, without retention however.
Five other OQTFs were also pronounced, this time with retention.
During all these operations, the seizures were finally numerous.
Because street vendors are numerous to distribute the sector, mainly offering miniature Eiffel towers.
Thus, no less than 790 kg of goods were confiscated by the police.
