With their operations in Essen, the police may have "prevented a nightmare".
That said NRW Interior Minister Herbert Reul (CDU) on Thursday in Düsseldorf.
In the morning, the police started a large-scale operation at the Don Bosco high school in Essen-Borbeck and at the secondary school at Borbeck Castle.
The home of the suspected 16-year-old German high school student had previously been searched by the SEK.
Essen - Among other things, explosive substances and material for building a bomb were secured, but no explosive device capable of being ignited.
The material was "functional, but not operational".
