Today, the Russian Foreign Ministry summoned the Chargé d'Affairs of the Netherlands Embassy in Moscow to protest the practice of commercial activities in violation of the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations.
Russia Today website quoted the Russian Foreign Ministry as saying in a statement that it had expressed to the Dutch Chargé d'Affairs Martin Elgersma its strong protest against the practice of illegal commercial activities on the grounds of the Dutch Consulate General in St. Petersburg.
According to the statement, the ministry explained to the head of the Dutch diplomatic mission that “consulate facilities are being used for purposes that contradict the performance of consular functions,” stressing the need to take the necessary measures to prevent a violation of the 1963 Vienna Convention on Consular Relations.
