The demolition of the Rottach town hall has been decided.

The traffic and beautification association sees this as an opportunity to think about the design of the town center - and has thought of something.

Rottach-Egern

– When the Rottach Transport and Beautification Association holds its annual general meeting on Wednesday, May 18th for the first time in two years, the members will have something exciting to see: The board will present a model that shows how it wants it to be Rottach's town center could look like.

If you like the concept, it will be forwarded to the municipal council. The starting point for the considerations is the Rottach-Egern municipality's intention to demolish the old town hall in the center and replace it with a new building.

"We should use this opportunity and think about design options in the town center," says Josef Bogner, chairman of the tourist office.

In a small circle, the board of directors developed ideas on how to improve the quality of stay in the area around the town hall.

It is currently unclear what the new building will look like.

As reported, the municipality takes a lot of time for the planning.

Bogner is in no doubt that there is no way around the demolition of the old town hall.

"The building is simply finished," he says.

It was a good decision not to invest any more money in a renovation, but to rely on a modern new building.

"But nothing is set in stone yet," explains Bogner, who discussed the action of the tourist office with Mayor Christian Köck (CSU) in advance.

Model is presented at the general meeting

Bogner is still silent on what his town center model looks like: the visitors to the general meeting should experience this live at the presentation.

The event begins at 8 p.m. in the Seeforum.

Bogner is hoping for a good response and a lively discussion.

The agenda also includes the election of a new board of directors.

Gastwirt Bogner, who has been in office as chairman since 2018, would have liked to hand over the management to a successor.

During preliminary talks, however, he was asked to postpone his exit.

"I would do another year," says Bogner.

So he will run again for the presidency.

The association itself has existed for 137 years.

Its name says it all: the primary goal is to beautify the place.

Bogner makes it clear that this should not only please the guests, but also the people who have been living in the area for generations.

In the past two years, the association's work was only possible to a limited extent due to Corona.

But it didn't come to a standstill, as Bogner explains: "In a small group, we gave it a lot of thought.
