During his visit to Israel, the President of Ecuador, Guillermo Lasso, announced tonight (Thursday) that his country's voting policy has changed and that Ecuador will now improve its voting and be more balanced with respect to Israel. The agreement, signed on behalf of Israel by the Minister of Science and Technology, Orit Farkash-Hacohen, is intended to strengthen scientific and technological cooperation between the two countries, to assist joint technological initiatives and to promote the exchange of scientists and students.

The Minister of Science and Technology, Farkash HaCohen, who signed the agreement on behalf of the State of Israel, said during the visit: "I congratulate the President of Ecuador on his first and most important historic visit.

The opening of the Innovation Center in Jerusalem will help the two countries cooperate in the fields of technology and strengthen the ties between them.

"Israel has long been not only a land flowing with milk and honey, we are also a state of advanced technology and we are very happy to share our knowledge with friends from around the world."

Moreover, earlier this morning, the Ecuadorian government announced that it would open an office to promote innovation in Jerusalem, as part of cooperation between the two countries.

Lasso justified the decision, saying: "Israel is one of the most innovative countries in the world and one of the purposes of my visit is to promote entrepreneurship, innovation and business cooperation with it. I especially appreciate and thank the Israeli government, ambassadors in both countries and the Ecuadorian Entrepreneurship Organization .

Lasso's visit is the first state visit to Israel by the President of Ecuador.

For the past 15 years, the country has been ruled by the radical left, which has led a relatively hostile line to Israel, but in May 2021, Lasso's center-right party came to power.

The new government has launched a bitter war against the drug cartels that have caused the country's security situation to deteriorate in recent weeks.

In light of this, Ecuador hopes to use Israel and create security cooperation with it.

In Ecuador, with a population of about 18 million people, a small Jewish community of about a thousand people, most of whom live in the capital Quito.

During World War II, it opened its doors to Jews and in 1947 voted in favor of the UN Partition Plan. Ten years later, in 1957, diplomatic relations were established between it and Israel.
