"Dangerous": Heat wave expected in Bavaria - but it brings strong thunderstorms and storms

The weather in Bavaria alternates between extremes: Real summer heat on the one hand, and "strong thunderstorms" on the other are expected.

Munich – There is probably no “in between” at the moment: the weather in Bavaria is changing between summer heat and sometimes violent thunderstorms these days.

There are warnings about heavy rain and hail - but also about dangerous heat.

Things are no different in the state capital of Munich.

This will probably not change in the coming days.

In his weather forecast on

, meteorologist Jan Schenk speaks of Sahara air that "spills over to us" and of "strong thunderstorms" that will occur.

Already on Sunday you will notice in Bavaria that hot Sahara air is approaching.

By Monday it should be getting muggy and oppressive, sometimes up to 30 degrees are possible, explains the meteorologist in the YouTube video from "The Weather Channel Germany".

In between, it gets a little colder again, especially on Tuesday, before it gets summery hot again towards the end of the coming week: "Then it can actually get 30 degrees hot three days in a row," says Schenk.

But: "Strong thunderstorms" can occur as early as Monday, and then a "real storm situation" could threaten, explains Schenk.

There would be strong thunderstorms with hail, squalls and heavy rain.

Between summer heat and heavy thunderstorms: the weather in Bavaria

According to the weather map and accompanying simulation from "The Weather Channel", the imminent severe weather conditions will mainly affect western and eastern Germany, but parts of Bavaria will also turn thunderstorm blue again and again.

It's also a bit difficult to predict, explains Schenk, because Sahara dust is expected again.

Not as much as in the first few months of the year, but enough to be a hard-to-calculate factor for the weather pattern to come.

For the end of the coming week there is also a “real bang” in the room: the hot air will be cleared and then there will be another strong thunderstorm.
