Several anti-Schröder posters have appeared in Munich.

At first glance, the stops look like "advertising".

Munich – Scandal surrounding Gerhard Schröder: A hate poster against the old chancellor has been hanging at around 50 stops in Munich since Wednesday.

According to information from our editorial team, this is a potentially criminal action by activists: they exchanged the original advertising posters for posters intended to defame former Chancellor Gerhard Schröder.

What does the MVG say about the incident?

"We have informed our marketing partner Ströer about the campaign, which operates the waiting shelters and the advertising space.

The topic was already known there;

the activists have appeared across Germany in the past few weeks and are of course aiming for media coverage," said spokesman Maximilian Kaltner on request.

Ströer is already in the process of removing the posters “as soon as possible.

As far as we know, charges are usually filed when illegal notices are posted.” The activists defend themselves against such accusations: “No posters were stolen and advertising showcases were not damaged.

The original posters are rolled up in the promotional display case,” they shared via email.

Poster makes Gerhard Schröder a figure of mockery: Are activists at risk of prosecution?

The theft of advertising posters is legally described with the term "adbusting".

There have recently been criminal proceedings in this area.

"We do not believe that there will be criminal prosecution because of these posters, as they are clearly covered by freedom of expression," say the activists about their action.

The authorities are now investigating the case.

Ex-Chancellor Gerhard Schröder was always seen as someone with a mind of his own who didn't like to be interfered with.

Now he seems to be closing himself off to close friends who are concerned.
