After two years of a pandemic in which the large free-to-air US networks hardly touched their fiction bets, the carnage experienced this Thursday among the series on free-to-air channels has drawn attention, with a total of 15 cancellations announced in just a few hours.
With many of the media groups to which these channels belong immersed in profound reorganizations to give greater relevance to their on-demand television platforms, and with fiction as the main affected by a change in television consumption that continues to reduce audiences for the broadcast On air, CBS, NBC and, above all, The CW have given their grills a deep cleaning.

The bloodletting practiced by The CW, a channel dependent on CBS focused on young audiences that used to renew practically all of its fiction grid, is striking.
This Thursday announced seven cancellations.
Among them are the new version of
Charmed
, which already had four seasons broadcast.
Dynasty
, adaptation of the eighties classic, will say goodbye after five seasons.
Roswell: New Mexico
will air its fourth and final installment this summer, just like
In the Dark
.
This summer will also see the fourth and final season of
Legacies
, and with it the television universe that emerged from the
Vampire Chronicles ends
.
For their part,
Naomi
and
4400 -
new version of the 2004 science fiction series - say goodbye after a single season.
These cancellations are in addition to those already announced for

CBS was also not far behind announcing cancellations this Thursday.
Magnum
, the new version of the eighties series that Jay Hernandez now starred in, says goodbye after four seasons.
The medical drama
Good Sam
and the comedy
How We Roll
have lasted only one .
Two other comedies, both produced by Chuck Lorre (responsible for
Two and a Half Men and
The
Big Bang Theory
), will also not continue in the new season:
B Positive
and
The United States of Al
have been canceled after two seasons.
On the part of NBC, there have been three titles that have gone through the scythe of the series.
Kenan
and
Mr. Mayor
(starring Ted Danson and with Tina Fey and Robert Carlock as creators) have been canceled after two seasons, while
The Endgame
has been canceled after a single installment.
Thursday not only left cancellations on American television.
There were also some announcements of new fictions that will be released in the coming months on free-to-air channels.
CBS, for example, will have three new dramas on its slate: the firefighting tale
Fire Country
, the crime drama
East New York
and the legal drama
So Help Me Todd
.
None of the four comedies that I had in the offing will definitely see the light of day.
The CW will also have new fiction productions on its grid for the next season: the
Supernatural
prequel entitled
The Winchesters,
the Walker prequel entitled
Walker: Independence
and
Gotham Knights,
in which Bruce Wayne's adopted son allies with the children of Batman's enemies when they are framed for a murder.
As for NBC, it has renewed series that it already had running such as
Young Rock, American Auto
and
Grand Crew,
in addition to other titles that had already been renewed such as
La Brea, The Blacklist, New Amsterdam
and the
Chicago
franchise and
Law.
