Pierre Larousse, the famous encyclopaedist, was no exception to the rule.
Except that it was not to hold social salons there or even less to rest: he had a pavilion built on rue de Concy, in Yerres (Essonne), which still exists, to write a large part of his Grand Dictionnaire universelle, 22,700 pages collected in 17 volumes.
