After cable fire: rail traffic in Hamburg massively disrupted

After a cable fire at Sternschanze station, there are still massive restrictions on rail traffic in and around Hamburg on Friday.
Hamburg – Around 8:20 p.m. on Thursday evening, the Hamburg fire brigade was alerted to a fire near Sternschanze station.
A fire broke out in the bushes just behind the railway bridge on Schanzenstrasse.
The fire brigade immediately responded with a fire engine.
The police blocked the road and ordered the rail traffic to be closed.

The fire spread quickly and spread to a cable duct, so the power had to be shut off.
The fire was not extinguished until around 9:30 p.m.
The fire resulted in massive restrictions in regional rail traffic as early as in the evening, as well as in long-distance traffic.

As reported by Deutsche Bahn (DB), delays and cancellations may also occur on Friday.
IC trains between Hamburg, Flensburg and Denmark are therefore canceled.
Even individual trains between Hamburg and North Rhine-Westphalia no longer run.
In addition, the ICE, IC and EC routes between Hamburg and southern Germany, Hamburg and Nuremberg as well as Hamburg and the Czech Republic are affected by failures on various traffic sections.

The disruptions are expected to last until midday.
