Lots of bureaucracy and unclear responsibilities in the accommodation: District Administrator Thomas Karmasin again warns of the consequences of the change of law for Ukraine refugees in the social legislation.

Fürstenfeldbruck – So far, Ukrainians have received help under the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act.

This means that the district is also responsible for housing the refugees.

From June 1, this will change after a new regulation at federal level: Ukrainians will be treated according to social legislation - and according to Karmasin, this has consequences .

The transition from one legal system to the other is complicated.

From one authority, data transfer is apparently not possible.

That means: In Bruck, 2,300 new cases have to be applied for and entered.

(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular FFB newsletter.)

The gap in terms of accommodation is even more serious.

The district does not provide for this for recipients of benefits under the Social Security Code.

If you don't have an apartment, you would become homeless - and then the communities would be responsible, says Karmasin.

"There is still some guesswork as to whether this is really politically desired."

Karmasin, also a spokesman for the Bavarian districts, emphasizes that the municipal umbrella organizations have been pointing out these problems for a long time.

They also called for a fair distribution of refugees within the federal and state governments.

Insofar as Ukrainians receive help from the social security system, a residency requirement could also guarantee fair compensation with regard to the financial burden.

New requests

But what do refugees have to do now?

From June 1st, those in need can apply for benefits from the Job Center or the Office for Social Affairs.

The benefits of the standard systems also offer the possibility of being included in the statutory health and long-term care insurance.

Applications for basic security can already be submitted to the Fürstenfeldbruck job center for the period from June 1st.

Further information is available at www.jobcenter-ffb.de/ukraine.

The application is formulated in Ukrainian and German.

The job center asks that the documents be submitted as completely as possible.

This is the only way to ensure fast processing.

If the job center is not responsible for the provision of services, the job center will immediately forward the application to the responsible social welfare office and process it there.

Those affected who have received benefits under the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act by May 31 will be informed by the District Office in May of the need to submit an application.

There is a transitional period until August 31st.
