Ukraine is the favorite at the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest in Turin.

Should the country, which is facing a war against Russia, win, "Kalush Orchestra" singer Oleg Psyuk promises: "If we win, it will take place in Ukraine."

Turin – The countdown to the 2022 ESC final in Turin is on.

In Germany, Das Erste will broadcast from 8.15 p.m., moderator Barbara Schöneberger will announce the points (everything about the awarding of points at the ESC) to the jury and the TV viewers.

The biggest music show in the world is looking for a winner among the 25 finalists.

Bookmakers consider Ukraine to be the favorite to win the ESC 2022 in Turin

The bookmakers consider the Ukrainian band Kalush Orchestra to be the favorite for the ESC victory in 2022 (here all participating countries).

The song "Stefania" could be voted the winner of the ESC on May 14, 2022 in solidarity with the country that was forced into a war by Russia.

"We are here at the ESC at a time when Ukrainian culture is to be destroyed," said Psiuk.

"With our participation, we want to show that she is alive - and will remain alive." The singer and his band were allowed to travel to Italy with a special permit.

One member of the band stayed behind in Ukraine and is currently fighting in the Ukrainian army in the Kyiv area.

The band could only rehearse in Turin.

Despite the war in Ukraine, the Ukrainian ESC star Oleg Psiuk is counting on a Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in his home country if he wins.

"If we win, the ESC 2023 will take place in a new, happy, united Ukraine," said the singer of the Kalush Orchestra on Thursday at a reception at the German Embassy in this year's ESC host city of Turin.
