Landsberg – Anyone who makes a journey has longing as a pang, first far away, then home.

Or longing for 'being on the way'.

Like Rudolf Bille, chairman of the Landsberg Art Association, who is showing photographic works from the Camino de Santiago in the association's current exhibition "Longing for Perspectives".

Nine other artists are showing their work until June 2nd in the Landsberg city administration.

It is the yellow shell or arrow that shows the pilgrim the way.

For Bille it is both a memory of a journey that opens up new perspectives.

Shell and arrow are also art motifs, whereby the colors photographed by Bille, the yellow of the arrows as well as blue shadows and graffiti motifs, as sun and sea memories, awaken a longing for vacation.

Ruth Frank's longing has led to new techniques: she has worked with encaustic, working with wax, shellac and fire that 'burns' color pigments into the underground.

The result is colour-intensive “underwater worlds” or “flower meadows”.

Andrea Reiners steps out of line: otherwise rather abstract on the move, she shows a classic lake landscape in the yearning blue of Romanticism.

Rike Brysch, on the other hand, devotes himself to longing with an ironic distance.

In her collage "Sehnsucht 'Bayern'" (Longing for 'Bavaria') she plays with images that convey a sense of home but have become clichés due to their frequent use: Neuschwanstein Castle, alphorn players and, of course, the pretty gray Allgäu cow.

Inge Diepold's work is quite programmatically titled: "And bye!" shows dynamic lines that result in an up and down, maybe a mountain range.

There are many landscapes to be found in the current exhibition, simply because of the themes of longing and perspective.

It's a pity that no sculptures can be exhibited in the city administration: because of the public traffic, as Bille explained at the opening on Friday.

This “gut feeling”, as Felix Bredschneijder calls the longing at the vernissage, which is difficult to describe in words, can now be approached with the pictures - an enrichment for the employees of the city administration.

On May 28th, everyone can live out their longing visually: The art association starts the open-air campaign "Painting to join in" on the Postberg.

The exhibition in the city administration is open from Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
