After a discussion held last night in the Office of the Minister of Justice, it was decided on measures to aggravate the punishment.

The Minister of Justice, Gideon Saar, was instructed to urgently prepare a memorandum of law to aggravate the measures and punishment in the phenomenon of the Shin Bet.

Among the measures proposed in the law: the aggravation of the punishment for drivers, militiamen and employers of minimum wages and fines. The proposal comes after a discussion that took place last night (Thursday) in Saar's office.

The memorandum will include, among other things: aggravating the punishment for employers, militiamen and Shavuot drivers from two years to four years in prison.

Minimum fines for illegal transportation of goods: There was a temporary order that expired two years ago for a minimum fine of NIS 10,000 minimum and now there is an intention to renew it for at least that amount, or more.

Seizure and forfeiture of vehicles used to transport goods: There is a provision that allows vehicles to be seized from the second seizure but it was not actually implemented due to legal difficulties. The intention now is to allow seizure and forfeiture of vehicles from the first seizure and simplify the law to leave legal difficulties.

It was also agreed to examine the inclusion of administrative measures in the memorandum such as revocation of driver’s license and revocation of business license.

The meeting at the Office of the Minister of Justice yesterday was attended by, among others, the Minister of Internal Security, the Attorney General, the State Attorney, the Deputy Attorney General (Criminal Justice), the head of the Police Investigations and Intelligence Division, the Director General of the Ministry of Justice.
