The ECMWF warns of a significant increase in temperature in summer compared to previous years.

30 degrees are expected to be reached as early as May.

Munich – The European Center for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) uses a graphic to forecast a huge temperature increase in summer in Europe.

Compared to the years 1993-2016, the temperatures are expected to rise by 1.5 to 2 degrees - the announced hot weather in summer is not really a reason for joy.

Is a hot summer coming to Europe?

According to the ECMWF, the summer of 2022 will be too warm - and above all too dry - in Eastern Europe as well as in Germany, France and Spain.

The European weather service warns of a significant rise in temperature for June, July and August.

After the rather wet summer months in 2017 and 2021, we are likely to face hot and dry June, July and August.

The last summers that were particularly hot and dry were 2018 and 2019.

Temperatures that are too hot are a burden on agriculture, including in Germany.

After a spring that was already too warm, this puts even more strain on forestry and agriculture.

Because May has so far been comparatively too warm across Germany.

The soils are dependent on more precipitation than has been the case so far this spring.

Heat forecast: May will already break the 30 degree mark

In western Germany, the 30-degree mark should already be cracked in May, as reported by

.

According to the report, high summer temperatures of around 30 degrees are also to be expected in southern Germany in May.

However, these should alternate with nightly ground frost, storms and thunderstorms.

In terms of the weather, May will be anything but boring.
