A fifteen-year-old transgender student committed suicide this Friday, May 13 by jumping from the third floor of his school, reported our colleagues from France Bleu and Maine Libre.
Despite an attempt at resuscitation by a teacher and the intervention of emergency services, the student died.

The incident occurred on Friday morning.
The student seemed disturbed when he arrived, and did not want to confide in his classmates, according to
Le Maine Libre
.
At around 10 a.m., the teenager asked permission to go to the bathroom, before stepping over a balcony on the third floor.

A psychological unit has been set up for students and school staff, and classes have been normalized for the day.
According to testimonies collected by our colleagues, the victim had begun a gender transition, and was considered a boy by his friends.
This transition caused tensions with his family.
In a press release relayed by Ouest-France, the mayor of Le Mans Stéphane Le Foll said that he associated himself "
with the pain of the family and his relatives, as well as that of the high school teachers
", adding that he wanted to "
bring his support to the educational community
