A burst hydraulic hose on a VIVO garbage truck spilled liters of oil into Lake Schliersee on Friday morning.
Binding the liquid will take days.
Schliersee – Task forces from the Schliersee fire brigade were able to prevent worse things from happening together with the building yard employees: the leaking hydraulic oil from a garbage truck was tied up in a small circle on the Schliersee with barriers on the water surface.
Over the weekend, the carpet is to be successively soaked up by tissues.
Cloths and hoses bind the oil
Fire brigade operations manager Michael Wunderle reports that the oil flowed through a shaft into a narrow stream bed on Mesnergasse above the forestry building and from there into the lake.
"We definitely averted further damage," confirms Wunderle.
The fire brigade was alarmed at 7.05 a.m., and by noon the firefighters had laid out oil barriers and cloths.
"The locks stay where they are," says the operations manager.
They were changed on Friday evening.
"On Monday we will assess the position again."
No injuries - garbage truck ready to drive again
According to the fire brigade, no one was injured when the hydraulic hose ruptured.
"A mechanic changed the hose on site to make the vehicle roadworthy again." The oil witch from Estner cleaned the road – also in the morning.
"That's sort of the fine-tuning after we've tied the worst," says Wunderle.
