Outlying Islands District Councilor Zeng Xiuhao died by burning charcoal at the Councillor's office in Peng Chau on the 1st of this month. The Government today (13th) gazetted to announce that according to Section 26(a) of the District Council Ordinance, due to the death of the Councillor, the Peng Chau and Hei Ling Chau constituencies have been left vacant.
Zeng Xiuhao died on the 1st of this month by burning charcoal at the councillor's office in Peng Chau.
"Hong Kong 01" earlier reported that the deceased reportedly disclosed to his family about a year ago that he was troubled by financial debts, had a tea with his family the day before the charcoal burning, and claimed that he would stay up all night without going home.
A plate of burnt charcoal was found at the scene of the incident, but no suicide note was seized.
