Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed with his Tajik counterpart Emomali Rahmon the latest developments in regional issues and the increase in terrorist activities in Afghanistan.
Russia Today website quoted the Russian presidency as saying in a statement today, "Putin and Rahman exchanged, during a phone call, which took place at the initiative of the Tajik side, views on the latest developments in the situation in Afghanistan and the recent increase in the activities of terrorist groups on its territory."
The statement indicated that the two sides confirmed that the relevant authorities in Russia and Tajikistan will continue their active cooperation in order to ensure security at the Tajik-Afghan border.
According to the statement, the two sides also discussed issues related to coordination within the framework of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, especially in light of the organization's summit to be held in Moscow next Monday.
