The Russian Foreign Ministry announced today the expulsion of an employee of the Bulgarian Embassy in Moscow.

In a statement carried by Russia Today, the ministry said: The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Bulgaria to Russia, Atanas Kristin, was invited to the ministry and submitted to him a note stating that an employee of the Bulgarian embassy in Moscow was persona non grata.

The statement indicated that this measure is a response to the Bulgarian side, which last month adopted an unjustified decision declaring a diplomat from the Russian Embassy in Sofia persona non grata.

On the 18th of last month, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced the expulsion of a number of Bulgarian embassy employees in Moscow in response to a similar move by Bulgaria.
