The organizers of the flag parade: "Let the Nablus Gate pass" Israel today

Will the area burn this year as well? • Right-wingers: "Making the route controversial - injustice" • Minister Farage to "Israel Today": "I will act against provocation of residents"

Will Jerusalem Day become explosive this year as well?

The organizers of the traditional flag parade plan that the parade will take place on Jerusalem Day through the Nablus Gate.

The organizers of the flag parade this week submitted a request to the Jerusalem District Police to hold a huge march of tens of thousands of marchers on Jerusalem Day, May 29, from the center of Jerusalem to the Western Wall plaza through the Nablus Gate.

As part of the request, details of which reached Israel Today, the applicants stated that "the day of the liberation of Jerusalem is the time to strengthen the integrity of the city and to give expression to total opposition to its division."

According to the requested event, the flag parade will begin on stages in central Jerusalem, where a mass dance will be held with the participation of tens of thousands of teenagers and adults, who are expected to arrive in the capital on a Jerusalem holiday.

Afterwards, a march will begin in the direction of the Western Wall, in which the tens of thousands expected to participate in the flag parade will pass through the Nablus Gate and Hagai Street, and from there to the Western Wall plaza, where a huge rally will be held to end Jerusalem Day.

Tens of thousands of marchers will arrive in Jerusalem by many buses from all over the country.

As you may recall, on May 10, 2021, on Jerusalem Day last year, rocket fire at Jerusalem and the surrounding communities caused the parade to stop, which continued later, but did not pass through the Nablus Gate.

The police noted with reference to the possibility of the flags marching at the Nablus Gate: "The work of the headquarters and the preparations are just beginning. We will act and do everything necessary for the proper and safe existence of the parade as every year."

"The flag parade has long since become a provocation parade."

Discussions and approvals of plans regarding Jerusalem Day will begin next week.

However, the police have already clarified that the intention is to allow the parade to take place on the same route as it has taken place in recent years.

Minister Issawi Frij told Israel Today ahead of Jerusalem Day and the flag parade: "The flag parade has long been a provocation parade, the whole purpose of which is to raise tensions in Jerusalem and the entire region. Its purpose is not to celebrate the holiday of Jerusalem, but to provoke its residents. "

"Absolute failure"

Matan Peleg, chairman of the If You Will movement, clarified that the attempt to make the route of the flag march controversial creates a grave injustice to the Israeli capital.

Unfortunately, the Nablus Gate has become an ex-territory for Jews.

The area became a distribution point for clothing with signs of incitement, designed to sow fear and an atmosphere of terror among Jews.

That is why it is very important to restore sovereignty to the Nablus Gate and to Jerusalem as a whole.

"Anyone who gives instructions to the police to withdraw from the Nablus Gate and cut back there is making a serious mistake. In the end, the violence reaches the Western Wall, the Temple Mount and even last week anyway. The flag parade is not a provocation, but an event celebrating the liberation of Jerusalem." "Sovereignty over the city and allowing citizens full freedom of movement in Jerusalem - this is a complete failure."

Maor Tzemach, chairman of the Lech Yerushalayim organization: "The reality in which it is not possible to march in the heart of Jerusalem with the Israeli flag is a reality that must not be accepted, and it leads to violence and terrorism with the thought that Jerusalem can be divided.

The flag, the symbol of Israeli sovereignty, must be hoisted everywhere in Israel in general and in Jerusalem in particular. "

Meanwhile, police districts are preparing to mark Nakba Day this coming Sunday.

In previous years, the day has passed without any special events, but this year in the face of security tensions and the sharp rise in the number of warnings about the terrorist organizations' intention to carry out attacks, the police were instructed to be vigilant.

In addition, police forces will be concentrated near localities and places where disturbances are expected, in order to reach them quickly and prevent them at the beginning.
