At 8:00 p.m. ET on May 2, the political news website POLITICO released an astonishing report that it had obtained a 98-page draft judgment from the U.S. Supreme Court, stating that the court had initially voted to overturn the 1973 "Roe v. Wade case". (Roe v. Wade) left a constitutional guarantee of the right to abortion.
The next day, Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts confirmed that the leaked draft was genuine and announced an investigation into it.
While Republicans have focused on the responsibility for leaks, Democrats have lashed out at conservative judges for slamming down a 49-year-old constitutional right.
If the draft becomes a formal decision, Americans will lose federal abortion rights protection, and half of the states believe that abortion will be banned immediately.
Some draconian laws prohibiting abortion, such as Texas's ban on abortion after six weeks of pregnancy, and legislation that does not exempt rape and incest cases, will no longer violate the U.S. Constitution.
Demonstrators gathered in front of the Supreme Court late into the night hours after the draft was released.

In September of last year, in the face of an unconstitutional abortion law in Texas that was then enforced by the people, not the government, and deliberately made it difficult for opponents to target government personnel in judicial appeals, five conservative justices on the Supreme Court at the time Defenders, on unidentified procedural grounds, refused to bar the implementation of the law, which apparently has an immediate impact on women.
The political leanings highlighted by these emergency judgments call into question the nominal political neutrality of the judges themselves.
However, when the above-mentioned Texas abortion laws are enforced by the people, not the government, to establish clearly unconstitutional laws, people worry that there will be a Democratic state in the same way, ignoring constitutional guarantees and enforcing gun bans. Although no Democrats have dared to do so at this moment, if this happens, will the Supreme Court slap itself and block it, or allow state governments to use legal tricks to undermine any guarantee of constitutional rights at will?
If the court blocks it, and Democratic politicians shout "double standards" and refuse to obey, will the federal government use the military to "enforce the law" in the state?
