The President of the United Arab Emirates passed away at the age of 73
The official news agency reported that Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayd had passed away after being very ill in recent years.

The president of the UAE, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayd, passed away today (Friday) at the age of 73, the official news agency of the UAE reported.
Khalifa has been very ill in recent years and the one who ran the country as the de facto ruler was the heir to the throne of Abu Dhabi Muhammad bin Zayed
.
"This is a great loss to our friend in the Emirates and to the whole region," he said.
"His courageous leadership has greatly contributed to the advancement of his country and people and to the partnership that has been realized in recent years between our countries, and is an important legacy for his successors. His determined initiatives and actions have promoted the Middle East to a horizon of prosperity and cooperation."
Foreign Minister Yair Lapid also paid tribute to Ben Zaid and said that his legacy is partnership, peace and brotherhood between the peoples.
"He was a brave leader who saw far and wide and worked for the future, a leader who continued the path of the Founding Father of the Emirates Sheikh Zayed Al-Nahyan," he said.
"I send our deep and sincere condolences to the entire royal family, and to the entire Emirate people. This is a sad day for all who share and believe in the path of peace. We will continue to work together for the peoples and in memory of Sheikh Khalifa Ben Zayed."
