During a government seminar, he also asked his main ministers to think about how they can reduce the number of posts in their respective administrations and to submit ideas to him within a month.
The objective is to cut 90,000 jobs, or about 20% of the workforce.
Jacob Rees-Mogg, the minister responsible for opportunities created by Brexit, justified the number as a way to get back to 2016 levels.
