#MachMusik: A campaign by the Bavarian Music Council wants to stir up more enthusiasm for spontaneous or organized music making.

Gelting/Pliening – What would the maypole erecting in Pliening last Saturday have been without the Gelting eV music band: certainly exciting but without pep, without musical entertainment bleak.

Here it has been shown again that making music is pure joie de vivre and an essential part of Bavarian identity, that cultural life in a community like Pliening would be unthinkable during festivals without music!

Patron, President of the Landtag Ilse Aigner, writes in her greeting: "What would the world be without music - no festival is imaginable without it".

Minister of Education Markus Blume says: “Our hearts beat for music.

The corona restrictions were a major challenge, especially for the amateur music scene.

But it is now time to get the Free State singing and singing again in an unmistakable manner.” But what is the campaign actually about?

The number of music consumers is increasing rapidly, but the number of active musicians has been declining for several years.

The Corona crisis in particular and the associated restrictions on club activities in the music sector have dramatically intensified this trend.

The poster advertising slogan "It's not just about who you are, but also who you want to be" is intended to reverse this negative trend.

People should be encouraged to make music, to dare,

Anyone who makes music in an ensemble with others experiences community and creates something bigger and new together - brings joy and brings people together, just like on Saturday when the maypole was erected - a great atmosphere.

People who are interested in taking up musical activities can find information on the music offerings in the respective region on the specially created website www.machenmusik.bayern.

With this campaign, the Bavarian Music Council wants to show people of all ages - from those interested in music to those returning to music - ways to make music both spontaneously and organized.

This is also the case in Pliening, in the Gelting music band.

If you want to get involved and take the initiative, just stop by and see us.

We, the musicians of all ages, always rehearse on Tuesdays from 7.45 p.m. in the musicians’ home in the community center at Geltinger Straße 43 in the basement (side entrance east) or the youth band Gelting-Poing always rehearses on Thursdays in the same premises from 6.30 p.m .
