Following Finance Minister Avigdor Lieberman's visit to Azerbaijan three weeks ago, another delegation from Israel to a friendly Muslim country will take off tomorrow (Tuesday).
The purpose of the visit, as explained to us at the Ministry of Agriculture, is to "share the knowledge" that Israeli agriculture has accumulated in three main areas - wheat cultivation, irrigation and the dairy farm.
In the future, the ministry hopes, the intention is to implement business cooperation between the countries.
Following the report in "Israel Today", the delegation will be headed by Minister of Agriculture Oded Forer, and will be accompanied by professionals in his office and a business delegation in cooperation with the Export Institute.
Following the global shortage of wheat, Baku, as we recently announced, decided to implement a huge wheat growing project so that not only would Azerbaijan become independent in the field, but it would also be able to export wheat.
For this purpose, Israel will provide Azerbaijan with the technology for growing wheat from the very beginning of the project, so that in two or three years it can purchase wheat and other grains from it.
Although Israel grows wheat itself, albeit in small quantities, it has knowledge of growing wheat in challenging climatic conditions.
Yaakov Poleg, Deputy Director General of Foreign Trade at the Ministry of Agriculture, told Israel Today that the delegation will participate in an agriculture exhibition in Azerbaijan alongside other countries: "Some companies will participate in the exhibition and some will participate in a business forum But also to interact between needs and solutions.
"The solutions we come up with from our companies are in several areas: animals (more efficient milk production, production solutions from the sea), irrigation solutions and a variety of technologies and solutions that Israel has developed, of agriculture in desert conditions and challenging climatic conditions."
According to him, the addition of office workers to the business delegation is intended to provide a shell for joint projects between the two countries.
"We offer solutions to a world that today faces a climate that we ourselves faced in the beginning - and we must preserve that advantage, because we already have solutions."
