A Palestinian youth who was shot in the head last month in clashes with security forces on the Temple Mount died this morning (Saturday) of his wounds, according to the Hadassah Medical Center.
The victim, Walid Sharif from the Beit Hanina neighborhood in East Jerusalem, is the first Palestinian killed since the outbreak of the recent riots in the compound, at the beginning of Ramadan.
On social media, they have already called him "Shahid al-Aqsa Mosque."
The lawyer representing the sheriff's family claims that the family members are demanding his body, while the police are requesting a post-mortem.
Sheriff's family opposes the autopsy, and the Palestinian Authority has reported that she has submitted an urgent request to the court for Israel to transfer his body to her without performing the autopsy.
The lawyer said it was not clear if there was indeed an intention to perform an autopsy and that the police request in this matter was "an excuse designed to delay the delivery of the body to the family".

Islamic Jihad mourned Sheriff's death: "The crimes of occupation and the blood of innocent people will be a curse that haunts the killers and a thread that will ignite the conflict."
According to Hadassah Medical Center, the young man has been treated at the hospital since his arrival when he suffered a head injury and when he was anesthetized and respirated - and that his condition did not improve throughout his hospitalization.
