After the alleged bomb attack on a high school in Essen was foiled, the students of the final year need good nerves this Monday: their oral Abitur exams are coming up.
Investigations into the 16-year-old suspect continue.
Essen - After the alleged terrorist attack at a high school in Essen was foiled, oral Abitur exams will be held at the school on Monday.
He hopes that the examinees will not be irritated, said the director of the religious institution to which the school in Essen-Borbeck belongs, Father Otto Nosbisch.
The investigations continued under high pressure over the weekend, said the spokesman for the Düsseldorf public prosecutor's office, Holger Heming.
For reasons of investigation and because of the personal rights of the 16-year-old suspect, he did not want to comment on the content.
In any case, the personal situation and the psychological state of the accused also played a role, he said.
The regular lessons for the approximately 800 students of the Don Bosco Gymnasium only start again on Tuesday with an opportunity for personal exchange about what happened in the first hour.
After that, all students would gather outside in front of the school to set a common sign of peaceful coexistence, it said on the school website.
According to a witness, the police stormed the 16-year-old's family's apartment on Thursday morning (May 12) and arrested him.
Extensive evidence was secured.
Among other things, the police came across right-wing extremist writings and materials on bomb construction, as NRW Interior Minister Herbert Reul (CDU) had announced.
Explosives and 16 tubular bodies, some prepared with clocks and nails, were secured, as well as a home-made rifle and crossbows with arrows.
An arrest warrant was issued against the high school student for, among other things, preparing for a serious act of violence that was dangerous to the state.
He is in custody.
According to a statement, the Attorney General assumes a right-wing extremist motive.
"That was a concrete, acute threat to our school," said Father Nosbisch.
It was thwarted by the courageous behavior of the students, who had passed on their suspicions of a possible attack to a teacher.

According to a report in the "Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung" (Saturday), the suspect had announced his "farewell forever" and a "gift for everyone".
Since the teenager had spoken of weapons before, the classmates took the hints seriously and went to a teacher who informed the school management, Nosbisch said.
A search of the young person's apartment also found evidence that the 16-year-old had mental problems, as NRW Interior Minister Herbert Reul (CDU) had announced.
Notes were found that could be read as "an urgent cry for help from a desperate young man."
