A cycle path is being built on the district road FFB 8 between Malching and Maisach.
The district will largely bear the costs of around 800,000 euros.
Maisach - The preferred construction variant was approved by the municipal council.
Now the district council has to give its approval.
2023 is to be built.
It's about a mile and a half.
The municipality pays for the first small part of the route: from Malching out to the district road.
For this purpose, a dirt road leading south to FFB 8 will be paved in the Am Steinacker/Bürgermeister-Müller-Straße area.
The district bears the costs for the cycle path along the district road to the roundabout at Frauenstraße.
At the roundabout
The new path runs north of the FFB 8. At the roundabout at the Maisacher industrial estate, cyclists have to cross a roundabout exit to the north.
A crossing island in the street is planned for cyclists near Malching.
The road will be widened for this.
And it is pivoted, which should also serve as a speed brake for drivers.
The island is planned quite a bit to the east of where the village road joins the district road, to enable safe crossing.
The crossing aid is needed for cycle traffic coming from the south.
(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular FFB newsletter.)
Because south of the district road there is already a cycle path.
However, only for a short distance.
So the idea of extending this path was obvious.
But the land negotiations with private owners had failed.
A pivoting of FFB 8 to the south, towards the roundabout that leads straight into the bypass, was also discussed.
Then the bike traffic could have run directly on the then old FFB 8 and you would have saved costs when building the bike path.
But Christian Gerhard from the district building office explained to the municipal council: It would cost around 1.8 million euros to rebuild 800 meters of district road and to acquire the necessary land (around 9,000 square meters).
Another disadvantage of this variant is that it would cut fields.
Other transfer ideas had failed because
Gerhard said he recommends the district council to build a cycle path north of FFB 8. That saves costs and resources.
The council unanimously agreed with this view.
