[East Rail/Shatin-Central Line] The cross-sea section of the East Rail will open to traffic tomorrow (15th). When trains enter Hung Hom Station in the future, they will use the expanded new platform. Currently, East Rail passengers have been served since 1975. , the old platform that is still air-conditioned will also complete its mission.

The Hung Hom Railway Station was opened in 1975. It replaced the Kowloon Station in Tsim Sha Tsui at that time. Over the years, it has served through trains, the former West Rail Line and East Rail passengers, with nearly 1,000 trains coming and going every day.

The Tuen Ma Line was fully opened to traffic last year, and the trains of the Tuen Ma Line were the first to move to the new platform of the extension of Hung Hom Station.

Hung Hom Station was formerly known as Kowloon Station. The current station building was opened in 1975, when Queen Elizabeth II visited Hong Kong that year.

After the Kowloon Station in Hung Hom was opened, it replaced the old station at the Clock Tower in Tsim Sha Tsui and became the terminus of the British Section of the Kowloon-Canton Railway.

Until the Kowloon Station in West Kowloon opened in 1998, it was renamed Hung Hom Station.

There are 6 platforms in Hung Hom Station, two are reserved for through trains and four are for local passenger use, which have been serving East Rail Line passengers.

After the opening of the Tsim Sha Tsui Spur Line in 2004, the East Rail Line terminus was once moved from Hung Hom to East Tsim Sha Tsui. However, after the West Rail Line was extended from Nanchang to Hung Hom in 2009, the East Rail Line terminus returned to Hung Hom Station again, and became the terminus of West Rail for a time. .

In order to meet the Sha-Central Line project, Hung Hom Station was also expanded. During the construction period, it was revealed that someone was "cutting steel bars", causing the public to worry about the safety of the new platform of Hung Hom Station.

The government has also set up an independent investigation committee to investigate, and the MTR is also carrying out reinforcement works for the platform.

On June 21 last year, the whole line of the Tuen Ma Line was opened to traffic, and the new platform at Hung Hom Station was the first to be put into operation. After the cross-sea section of the East Rail Line opens to traffic tomorrow, the East Rail platform will also be moved to the platform level below the platform of the Tuen Ma Line.

In the future, passengers will only need to get on and off the first floor to transfer trains, and the old platform currently used will no longer be open for passengers to enter, and the station's mission as an East Rail terminus has come to an end.

The new platform is far from the bus stop of the CHT toll plaza

Passengers will have to get used to the new service on the cross-sea section, and may also have to adapt to the new platform of Hung Hom Station.

The location of the new platform is higher than that of the current old platform, and it is farther from the bus stop of the CHT toll plaza.

In the future, if East Rail passengers want to transfer buses at the CHT exit, it is estimated that they will need to travel for about two minutes longer, passing through the station concourse first.

The intercity through train will continue to use the old platform, where the old East Rail platform can still be seen.

However, under the epidemic, the through train has been out of service for two years, and there have been rumors that the through train will stop service.
