[East Rail/Sha-Central Line] The sea-crossing section of the East Rail Line will open to traffic early on Sunday (15th), and a new platform will be opened at Hung Hom Station.
At 12:00 on Sunday morning, the last train to Sheung Shui left at 0:28, and the last train to the station arrived at about 1:15. The old platform of Hung Hom Station, which opened in 1975, was officially completed. 47 years of historical mission.
A large number of railway fans went to Hung Hom Station in the evening to take pictures to record the last night of the old platform, and they also waved goodbye when the last Hung Hom train departed.

The last southbound train entered the station at about 1.15am. After the last passengers got off the train, the train turned off its lights and left the platform.
The platform sounded the announcement "Today's train service has been terminated, passengers please leave the station", and the station master also closed the gate of Exit A leading to the CHT.

Mr. Cheng has been a railway fan since he was a child. He is a former CUHK student who lives in Kowloon East. He took the East Rail almost every day when he was a university student. Although he has little impression of Hung Hom Station, the station has a history of 47 years, and he also wanted to witness the last night.
He went to Hung Hom Station with his mother and sister today. He pointed out that in the past, he and his mother took the through train from Hung Hom Station to the Mainland from time to time. When the Lok Ma Chau Spur Line opened, his mother also accompanied him. The East Rail contains many family memories.
Mr. Cheng is a railway fan. In the past, his sister and mother, who used to ride the through train and the East Rail at Hung Hom Station, escorted him to take pictures at Hung Hom Station.

Mr. So, who lives in Tai Po, brought his four-year-old son to Hung Hom Station to prepare for the last East Rail service from the old Hung Hom platform.
He said that he could see the East Rail at home, and he and his father witnessed the electrification of the East Rail. Today, he specially brought his son to Hung Hom Station to witness the East Rail Line is about to cross the sea.
He pointed out that he used to get on and off at Hung Hom Station when he crossed the sea for work and concerts. He was particularly fond of East Rail and had many memories at Hung Hom Station.
Mr. So lives in Tai Po with his four-year-old son. He sees the East Rail every day at home, and he has a deep bond with them. He went to Hung Hom Station to take the last train from the old platform.
