The final of the 66th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 has started at 9 p.m. Spanish peninsular time.

Laura Pausini has sung several of her best-known songs in different languages.

With the singer Mika and the presenter Alessandro Cattelan they make up the three presenters of the great gala, which is held at the Pala Alpitour pavilion in Turin (Italy).

The first to act will be the Czech Republic at 21.17.

The candidacy led by Chanel Terrero and her SloMo, which will participate a little before ten o'clock, has the possibility of obtaining the best classification for Spain in the last 17 years.

It will be so if the expectations of the official bookmakers are met, which place the song among the five favorites to win.

This edition is marked by the invasion in Ukraine,

which has caused the expulsion of the Russian representative from the contest.

Also that Kalush Orchestra, the Ukrainian rap and folk band, is the public's favorite option with its song Stefania.

25 countries participate.

Relay from the bomb shelter

We have already talked about Ukraine starting as the favorite this year.

Broadcasting the festival in the country is not being easy.

Its commentator, Timur Miroshnychenko, comments on the galas for the Ukrainian public broadcaster Suspilne from a bunker, as they have shown through the official Ukrainian YouTube channel for the festival and on social networks

The first time Chanel performed 'SloMo' on TV

Chanel arrived at Benidorm Fest in January, practically an unknown.

But it was this precise moment, when she performed

SloMo

for the first time on television in one of the semifinals of the Spanish pre-selection, when everything changed.

After her performance, it became, almost immediately, a permanent

trending topic

and the festival's third favorite, after Tanxugueiras and Rigoberta Bandini.

Zelesnky's message

In the message that Volodimir Zelesnki shared this afternoon through Telegram, he remembers Eurovision and asks us to vote for Kalush Orchestra.

"The continent and the rest of the world is going to listen to our language. I trust that, at the end of the night, the word will be 'Victory'."

Spain will act at the edge of 22.00

If the rundown of the gala is fulfilled, Chanel's turn will be at exactly 9:58 p.m., just after another of the favorites, Italy, and before the Netherlands and Ukraine, a very powerful block of performances.

The announcement of the winner is scheduled for 00.40, we will have to be patient...

This is how the favorites are living it

A few days ago, we chatted with Oleh Psiuk, the leader of the Kalush Orchestra, the lord of the eternal pink hat.

He told us about his song,

Stefania

, and how they will have to return to Ukraine in two days, win or lose, because their special permission to be out of the country is running out.

Here you can read it.

Will Italy repeat as the winner?

One of the favourites, according to bookmakers and Eurovision experts, is Italy.

However, it is rare for a country to repeat two consecutive years as the winner of the festival.

It happened with Luxembourg in the years 1972 and 1973 and with Israel in 1978 and 1979. The last one that repeated, and it was three times, was Ireland, which won in 1992, 1993 and 1994. That is if we put aside the victory of Spain in 1968 with Massiel and in 1969 we repeated with Salomé with a multiple draw

Position obtained by Spain in the last 10 editions

As Natalia Marcos commented, last year's Eurovision edition went badly for us. How did Spain fare in the last 10 editions?

Spoiler:

not to fire rockets either.

We only managed to climb to 10th place in 2012 and 2014 with Pastora Soler and Ruth Lorenzo, respectively.

That's how it was last year

In a word: bad.

It went bad for us.

In the edition of the return of Eurovision after the year of suspension due to the pandemic, Blas Cantó was our representative (he had already been chosen for 2020 but never participated).

In that edition held in Rotterdam, Cantó finished in 24th place out of 26, and only obtained six points.

You may have forgotten her, but this was her performance

The American Eurovision

This Monday, May 9, the final of the American Song Contest, the American version of Eurovision, was held, although without much convening power.

The result has been as crazy and multicultural as it is in these parts.

The representative of Oklahoma has won, with a K-Pop (South Korean pop) song written by a group of Swedish composers.

Her name is AleXa and her Wonderland is already a small success on the internet.

Instead of performing at Eurovision, the organizers of the contest have preferred to do so tomorrow Sunday at the Billboard Music Awards, held in Las Vegas.

In this direct, Natalia Marcos, Silvia Laboreo and Héctor Llanos will tell you all the information related to the great gala held at the Pala Alpitour in Turin (Italy).

The singers Laura Pausini and Mika and the presenter Alessandro Cattelan will be in charge.

And it will be 25 countries that will compete in a ceremony that attracts a global audience of close to 200 million people.
