Eurovision songs are usually short-lived hits, hammering away for a weekend and then falling into oblivion.
But there are some exceptions.
We have located 1,200 songs that have participated in the contest, from 1956 to last year, to answer one question: which ones are still playing on Spotify?
The
streaming
platform assesses the popularity of each song, taking into account the total number of listeners and their trend.
Of all the Eurovision songs, the most successful, by far, is Duncan Laurence's
Arcade
, which won the contest in 2019. On a scale of 0 to 100, it has a popularity rating of 79, which places it at the level of
Candy
or
Saoko
, by Rosalía, and ahead of the most popular hits by the Beatles or the Rolling Stones.
In the
top
five they are accompanied by other recent songs and an older Spanish song, but one that you will surely remember:
Bailar Pegados
, by Sergio Dalma.
Among the hundreds of songs that have gone through Eurovision, it is the fifth most successful on Spotify.
With a popularity rating of 61, it is at the level of
Mala Mujer
, by C. Tangana.
We have included the most popular 250 of the 1,200 that we have found on Spotify.
They are not all the participants, because some of the oldest are not available on the platform, but it is a fairly complete sample.
In the table above, by clicking the green icon, you can listen to each song on Spotify.
We have also created a
playlist
with the 33 songs that lead that list.
Songs of all kinds have participated in these seven decades of competition.
The chart below shows the 250 from the list above ranked by their positivity, their tempo, and how danceable they are.
