There is now a care base in Dachau.

Those affected receive free and neutral advice on all aspects of care.

Dachau

– Who can I contact if I suddenly need care?

What kind of nursing care do I have, and which services are covered by which nursing care insurance?

These are just a few of the many questions that those affected and their families are asked.

In the district of Dachau there are a large number of advice centers for such cases, for example in the district office or at the respective health insurance companies.

Now Dachau finally has a central point of contact: the care base.

After three years of planning, it was able to open at Oberanger 14 on Thursday afternoon.

There, those affected receive all the advice and information on the subject of care in one place – and it’s free of charge.

That is why the Dachau nursing base is special

The nursing base in Dachau is one of a total of 17 nursing bases in Upper Bavaria.

"The district of Upper Bavaria launched the initiative," says District President Josef Mederer.

What is special: The Dachau nursing base is the first in all of Upper Bavaria to be handed over to a cooperative.

Namely to the cooperative to strengthen health care in the district of Dachau.

CSU member of parliament Bernhard Seidenath founded the cooperative five years ago.

The cooperative is chaired by Annette Eichhorn-Wiegand.

She is also the managing director of the Health Region Plus, which also has an office in the care base.

With the midwife coordination center and the new nursing base, the Health Region Plus forms the three pillars of the cooperative.

This is how the care base is financed

Eichhorn-Wiegand estimates the annual costs for the care base in Dachau to be between 200,000 and 300,000 euros.

One third of the financing is provided by the district of Upper Bavaria and the district of Dachau, and two thirds by the nursing care and health insurance companies.

They were initially skeptical, as AOK director Maximilian Georg reported at the opening of the care base.

"We were afraid that the care base would make our own offers superfluous." But looking at the other districts, Georg saw that there was no competitive relationship.

Rather, the health insurance companies and the care bases work hand in hand.

“The advice offered by health insurance companies is limited by knowledge.

Our capacities are not sufficient for the many district citizens," said the AOK director.

Difference to other counseling offers

In contrast to the advice offered by health insurance companies, the care support point is not related to health insurance companies.

"Anyone who needs help and guidance on the subject of care can come to us," says Angelika Keller.

"Our advice is neutral and independent." The 63-year-old works full-time as a senior care advisor at the care base in Dachau.

She worked on the concept of the care base.

Keller receives support from care advisor Anke Wolf, who works part-time at the care base.

In contrast to the advisors in the district office, Angelika Keller and Anke Wolf are trained care advisors.

Responsibilities of Nursing Advisors

Keller and Wolf know the needs of those in need of care.

You know the challenges those affected have to contend with.

They inform those in need of care and their relatives about the offers of care services, draw up care plans and help with applications.

"We are networked with social actors," says Keller.

For example, the care support center mediates to dementia groups or a residential environment advice service.

Looking for a part-time counseling position for a care base

Another part-time position has been advertised so that Keller and Wolf can do their jobs.

Interested care advisors can contact Annette Eichhorn-Wiegand at info@dachauplus.de or on 0 81 31/ 6 69 83 08.
