On a trip to the Herzogstand: girl falls down the slope - classmates in shock

A schoolgirl from Baden-Württemberg fell badly on the Herzogstand on Wednesday.

She had to be taken to the accident clinic in Murnau by helicopter.

Kochel am See – As Toni Geiger, on-call manager from the Kochel mountain rescue service, reports, the 18 children between the ages of 13 and 15 were with their two teachers, who are currently in the school camp in Benediktbeuern, on an excursion to the Herzogstand.

In the afternoon they wanted to hike on path H2 from the mountain station to Walchensee.

On the steep, wet path, a girl suddenly slipped in the grass and rolled 50 meters down the slope in front of her classmates.

She came to rest against a tree lying across.

"That was very lucky, because after that it would have been another 50 meters downhill," reports Geiger.

It was also fortunate that the child had not hit his head anywhere against it.

Coincidentally, two members of the Kochler Bergwacht were privately on this path uphill, so that they were not only able to provide immediate help, but also set the rescue chain in motion and were able to describe the exact location to the requested helicopter "Christoph Murnau" and the emergency doctor.

One of the other mountain rescue team members who was alerted took the cable car up a bit and abseiled down to the scene of the accident.

The girl broke her wrist in the crash and suffered various abrasions.

Crisis intervention team looks after students

Some of the children were in shock after the accident.

That's why the "Berg" crisis intervention team was also alerted.

The Walchensee water rescue service was also called.

The volunteers waited for the children at the valley station of the cable car.

There they were provided with a care room by the Herzogstandbahn.

According to the rescue workers, some of the children's shoes were not suitable for an alpine mountain tour.

After the end of the assignment, some students were able to take the bus to Benediktbeuern as planned.

The mountain rescue service brought others back to the accommodation in a team vehicle.
