Ten civilians were killed as a result of an armed attack on a central African village today.
The spokesman for the UN peacekeeping mission in the Central African Republic, Lieutenant-Colonel Abdelaziz Ouadraogo, told AFP that elements of an armed group calling itself the "Peace Unit" attacked the village of Bokolobo, northeast of the capital, Bangui, killing 10 people.
The spokesman indicated that after the attack, the UN force deployed a number of its soldiers in the area to protect the population.
Central Africa has been witnessing a civil war since 2013 that has subsided since 2018, but many of its regions are still witnessing armed attacks targeting civilians and military personnel.
