The teams of As-Suwayda, Lattakia and the Army shine in the Republic Karate Championship

Damascus, SANA- The Republic Championship Karate Karate for Fighting and Individual and Team Kata for U-18 and Above categories has concluded.

The Republic Championship Karate for fighting and individual and group kata for the under-18, over-18 and under-21 categories, which was held at Al-Jalaa Sports Hall in Damascus, with the participation of sixteen teams representing 13 governorates, army, police and student bodies.

As-Suwayda national team ranked first in the over 18-year-olds category with five golds, two silvers and five bronzes, followed by the police with three golds, two silvers and two bronzes, then the Damascus team with two golds, two silvers and two bronzes.

In the under-18 category, the army won first place with three golds, one silver and two bronzes, followed by the Suwayda team with two golds, four silvers and six bronzes, and then the Damascus team with two golds, one silver and three bronzes.

The Lattakia team achieved first place in the under-21 category with three golds, one silver and three bronzes, followed by the Army with two golds and three silvers, followed by a bronze, and then Al-Suwayda team with two golds, three silvers and two bronzes.

In a statement to SANA, the President of the Game Federation, Jihad Mia, said that the tournament is important because it is categorized and adds points for the players to help them enter the elite tournament that will be held at the end of the year, which is the first of the local federation’s activities, pointing out that there are committees that evaluate the performance of the players, especially the players of the national team, to determine their level, weaknesses and strengths. At the same time, he stressed that the tournament is the fourth this season in a series of tournaments that help refine referees and coaches who, along with our organizational and administrative cadres, are able to organize tournaments at the continental and global levels.

Referee Ahmed Bakhit clarified that arbitration in all karate tournaments enjoys credibility and confidence from the referees committee, the federation and the players because it gives everyone his right, and the evidence for this is that there are no objections, and if any, they are at the minimum for any tournament, pointing out that the arbitration cadres in the game are able to arbitrate tournaments at both levels. Local and international in terms of quantity and quality.

A number of crowned players expressed their desire to achieve more good results so that they would have the opportunity to represent the national team in foreign participations, stand on the podiums, raise the flag of Syria high and play the most expensive anthem.
