The lawyer representing the sheriff's family claims that the family members are demanding his body, while the police are requesting a post-mortem.

Sheriff's family opposes the autopsy, and it even submitted an urgent request to the court for Israel to transfer his body to her without performing the autopsy.

The lawyer said it was not clear if there was indeed an intention to perform an autopsy and that the police request in this matter was "an excuse designed to delay the delivery of the body to the family".
