It's a simple "
technical bug
" that falls very badly.
This Saturday morning, as noted by our colleagues from France Info, the Matignon site displayed for several minutes a page announcing the “
resignation of the government
”.
“
Prime Minister Jean Castex presented the resignation of the government to the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron
”, indicated the page.

A long-awaited announcement... which quickly disappeared from the site.
In reality, it should never have appeared: contacted, Matignon explains that it is a "
small technical bug
", and underlines that "
the Prime Minister has not resigned
".
The government site includes a "
redesign mode, which can be activated at any time
", it is said: this was used in error, leading to the publication of the message.
“
It is purely a technical bug, the page has disappeared
”, specifies the entourage of Jean Castex.
According to France Info, this error remained visible "
for more than an hour
".
Matignon speaks rather of "
a few minutes
“, but concedes that the operation could have taken a moment, “
the time that the pages are updated
”.
This is not the first time that the Matignon site has suffered a technical error.
In 2009, an employee of the Government Information Service (SIG) had mistakenly announced a reshuffle by showing in the composition of the Fillon team the names of the UMP deputies Axel Poniatowski and Frédéric Lefebvre, and of the PRG president of the general council. of Haute-Corse Paul Giacobbi.
A “
dysfunction
” which led to the transfer of the employee at fault and an apology from Matignon to the Élysée.
The current team therefore remains at the helm for a few more hours.
The technical error of this Saturday morning comes at a particularly delicate moment, when the resignation of the Prime Minister is expected and Emmanuel Macron begins his second term on the same day.
Jean Castex has also canceled his last official trip, scheduled for the Vatican on Sunday, on the occasion of the canonization ceremony of the French explorer Charles de Foucauld.
Emmanuel Macron will travel to Abu Dhabi the same day to pay tribute to the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al-Nahyan, who died on Friday at the age of 73, and the two chief executives cannot be at the same time outside the territory.
