Police thwarted an attack in the Sharon area last night (Friday), after arresting an illegal resident near Tzur Yitzhak, who entered the country with a knife and a letter about his intention to carry out an attack.
Taibeh police officers, along with the municipal police inspector, conducted searches along Route 444, during which they received a report of a suspect with a stone in his hand walking around the area.
During a quick interrogation in the area and a search of the suspect's tools - a 19-year-old resident of Tulkarm, the police seized a stone, a knife and a letter - indicating his intention to carry out an attack in Israeli territory.
The suspect was initially detained for 96 hours for security offenses and was transferred for questioning under the direction of the Central Unit of the Israel Police in the Central District in cooperation with the GSS.
Subsequently, a request will be brought before the court for an extension of his detention until the sentence is served.
Similar to this case, behind other terrorist attacks in the current wave of terrorism, including the attack in Elad in which three Israelis were killed, were Palestinians who entered Israel without a permit and against the law.
The police are currently working harder to combat the phenomenon of GSS. During the activities of the municipal police in Bnei Brak, four GSS workers who were working in the city were located on Thursday.
They were arrested immediately and the place that employed them was closed for two weeks, until the details were clarified.
