Whoever wins the Eurovision Song Contest will be back on stage next year.

The rock band Måneskin will also be there live in Turin.

It didn't look good for singer Damiano David - the singer injured his ankle while shooting the music video.

Turin – Måneskin won the Eurovision Song Contest in 2021 with their song “Zitti e buoni”. As last year’s winning band, the band will also be performing at the ESC 2022 this year (the grand finale of the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 on TV and live stream ) perform on stage.

Måneskin: Italian rock band wins Eurovision Song Contest in 2021

With their appearance at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2021, the four band members (Damiano David, Victoria De Angelis, Thomas Raggi and Ethan Torchio) became international stars overnight.

They were already a successful and well-known band in their home country of Italy - but after their ESC performance, their winning song "Zitti e buoni" was streamed millions of times.

But the band also made headlines that night: an alleged drug scandal involving lead singer Damiano David.

Some viewers have allegedly observed the 23-year-old using cocaine.

The singer, like the band, didn't let that sit any longer - so he did a voluntary drug test.

The result: negative.

Singer walks on crutches

The band has been preparing for several days, just like the ESC finalists (these candidates will compete in the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest) for the performance at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin.

Shortly before rehearsals, the 23-year-old lead singer injured his ankle and had to walk with crutches, as he showed in his Instagram story.

"Both rehearsals planned for today were cancelled," said IPPEN.MEDIA reporter Mario Hanousek live from Turin.

The reason for his injury: The lead singer injured his ankle while shooting the music video for the new single "Supermodel".

But on today's ESC final day everything should take place as planned, reports Mario Hanousek.

According to the singer, there is no reason not to deliver on stage - despite the injury.

"My ankle is injured but my skin can be perfect for it," the singer wrote on his Instagram Story, showing off a face mask in front of the mirror.

“The stage will be rocked tomorrow, anyway.

don't worry about me

I love you all," Damiano David continued.

There are already numerous fans in the social media networks who reveal their ESC favorites (ESC 2022: Overview of all countries, songs and singers) in advance.

The Eurovision Song Contest will be broadcast live from Turin.

ESC disaster: NDR excludes singer Felicia Lu from the jury: "It's a really crazy situation for me"

But for one singer, her ESC favorite choice was fatal: Felicia Lu.

She was supposed to be part of the German ESC jury, but was excluded again the same evening.

The reason for this was early reviews of the studio versions of the ESC contributions.
