The cross-sea section of the East Rail Line of the MTR opened to traffic today (15th).
The original platforms No. 1 and No. 4 will also be discontinued, and new platforms will be expanded underground.
The old platform, together with the station, was opened in 1975 and has served Hong Kong citizens for 47 years.
The old platform was not well-ventilated and had no air-conditioning system. Every summer, it turned into a "sauna room", which made the public sweating profusely.
Despite this, many citizens have accumulated a lot of memories on this old platform every day when they go to work, go to get off work and transfer trains.
Today, the old platform was closed, attracting hundreds of citizens to come in the early morning to witness the last night of the platform and wave goodbye to the last train with Hung Hom as the terminus.
