Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said today (Sunday) at the beginning of the cabinet meeting that he intends to approve the state budget for 2023 already during the month of June.
"We are entering into intensive work on the matter. I expect all government ministers to be harnessed to the task."
In his remarks, Bennett noted the economic achievements of the government he heads and the importance he says he has in preventing a "regime of endless elections and paralysis."
He said, "In the past year, the Israeli government has acted and brought results - we have reduced the number of shootings in the Arab sector to about 50%, brought the Israeli economy to 8.2% growth and reduced unemployment to 2.9%, while returning masses of unemployed to work," he said.
The prime minister added: "We have inherited a state of great unemployment and brought people back to work, we have given them back their basic dignity. We have broken a record of marketing housing units to reduce the huge shortage over the past few years. "The noise needs to be remembered, and the list goes on. Israel has returned to work. We must not degenerate back into a regime of endless elections and paralysis. The past year has shown that we can work together, that we can run Israel seriously, and bring good results."

Recall that about a month ago, Finance Minister Avigdor Lieberman instructed his office staff to work on a one-year budget for 2023 and not a biennial as originally planned 2024-2023, due to the political instability of the government and the lack of a majority in the Knesset.
By law, the budget can pass by March next year, but the government intends to try and approve it in the Knesset as early as September.
The budget transfer will increase the government's chances of continuing to exist both in 2023 and of the rotation between Bennett and Lapid that is scheduled to take place in August 2023.
Negotiations with the ministries are much longer when it comes to a budget for two years and not for one year. Beyond that, the approval of the Knesset budget law in the second and third readings requires a vote on each and every section, The fragile situation of the coalition, the chance of passing a biennial budget tends to zero.
